DESCRIPTION:Join the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music as we welcome leading scholar Malcolm Miller for a lecture demonstration on his new book “Boundaries\, Space and Register in Beethoven’s Piano Music”. Through his new text Miller\, a leading scholar of Western classical music also known for his work on Jewish music\, introduces a far-reaching new analytical method and explores Beethoven’s handling of pitch boundaries and the shaping of sonic space. \n\nFrom November 12 until November 14\, music scholar and pianist Dr. Malcolm Miller from London will be a guest at our School. He has recently published two books: on Classical and Popular Music in Israel\, and on Boundaries\, Space\, and Register in Beethoven’s Piano Music. During his residency at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music\, Miller will be a guest in William Kinderman’s Wagner seminar (12 November\, Mancini Lab Room 9-11)\, and will be presenting and performing on the evening of Thursday 13 November\, and on the afternoon of 14 November\, events coordinated with his new books on Music in Israel\, and on Register in Beethoven\, respectively.
