Lisa Garibay
Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing

Lisa began her career as a music and film journalist who became a film producer, music supervisor, and band manager. While managing marketing and content for Film Independent, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the LA Film Festival, Lisa wrote for publications including Mean Street, the San Francisco Bay GuardianLA Weekly, the El Paso Times, SOMA, Dazed & Confused, Written By, and more. She received a Sundance Institute Arts Writing Fellowship for her journalism and produced feature films, documentaries, and short films that garnered awards at film festivals around the globe.

Lisa’s work with artists led her to start her own publicity and creative business firm, which took on clients in the tech industry and higher education alongside artists. She arrived at UCLA in 2016 to guide PR and marketing for the university’s division of physical sciences and is thrilled to come full circle and be in the world of music once again with The Herb Alpert School of Music.
