The program will feature a conversation between scholars Professors Sharon Avni (Linguistics, CUNY) and Laura Yares (Religious Studies, Michigan State University) with authors of a newly published collection of articles on contemporary Jewish music in the Journal for Synagogue Music. Contributors to the article will be part of the discussion including: Galeet Dardashti (Indiana University), Jeffrey Summit (Tufts University), Uri Schreter (Harvard University, Graduate Student), and Mark Slobin (Wesleyan University, Emeritus Professor) will serve as the lead discussant.
