Masterclass with Matthew Howard, Principal Percussionist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic

masterclasses
Orchestra Room – SMB 1343

The Percussion Department at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music is proud to present Matthew Howard, Principal Percussionist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Howard will conduct a masterclass on how to prepare for a percussion audition with an orchestra. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear UCLA’s percussion students perform the xylophone part to Porgy and Bess, the glockenspiel part to Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and the snare drum part to Lt. Kijé! Howard also will discuss tactics for dealing with the pressure of performing, both in auditions and in performances.

Made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. We are proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2018-2019 Dobrow Series.
