Instruments of Eubanks

We recently received over 40 musical instruments from the Eubanks Conservatory of Music, founded and based in Los Angeles since 1951. After she passed, composer Rachel Eubank’s family donated them to UCLA in 2018. Most of the instruments are from Africa and Asia, such as a large gong circle from central Thailand, a tabla set and sarangi (bowed fiddle) from India, a sansa bamboo rattle, and a slit drum used in a head-hunting ceremony from the Sepik River area in Papua New Guinea.
