Since 1996, the Max H. Gluck Foundation has enabled our finest UCLA music students to offer free educational performances at over 150 schools, libraries, senior centers, and other nontraditional venues throughout Los Angeles.

Fellows of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz at UCLA share their talent with future generations of musicians by presenting clinics and masterclasses, and performing at community and international events, as well as teaching private lessons to local students.

For over two decades, the Music Partnership Program has enabled UCLA music students to provide music training and mentoring to talented at-risk youth in Los Angeles’ most underserved communities, inspiring hundreds of inner-city youth across partnership sites.

At the UCLA PEER Lab, we study the creative processes involved in everyday, traditional, and emerging practices. We pay attention to how oppressed groups and individuals survive, pursue knowledge, and express joy through music and sound. And, acknowledging storytelling as the root of cultural appropriation, we take an active part in which stories are told, and who gets to tell them.

The UCLA VEM Ensemble, the graduate ensemble at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, is the cornerstone of the Armenian Music Program at UCLA, which, thanks to generous donor support and the assistance of the Lark Music Society, endeavors to raise awareness and celebrate the richness and diversity of Armenian musical tradition.
