Korean-Canadian cellist Jaewon Ahn has performed extensively throughout Europe, North America, and Asia. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege to perform with many influential artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Lynn Harrell, and Axel Strauss. She has won numerous competitions in Korea and Canada, most notably the Strad competition and Canadian Music Competition. Jaewon has been a twice recipient of Barbara Wanner Scholarship and Lloyd Carr-Harris Scholarship which has led to various solo concert engagements including Canada’s Rising-Star Series.
An avid chamber and orchestral music enthusiast, Jaewon has performed in Japan with musicians of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Orchestre National de Lyon and New York Philharmonic this past season. Her piano trio, Trio Armonioso, has been invited to perform at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Jaewon is an alumna member of the VEM ensemble, the graduate quartet-in-residence at UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music. She received her Master of Music in Cello Performance under the tutelage of Prof. Antonio Lysy. In 2021, the UCLA Armenian Music Program released a series of mini-documentaries, one of which featured solely Jaewon and her personal experience with Armenian Music.
