Sean McLaughlin
Piano Technician

Sean McLaughlin is the lead piano technician at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. He brings a wealth of experience and training to the position.

Sean earned his bachelor’s in music composition from California State University, Northridge, where he graduated with honors. He studied piano technology, apprenticed, and worked as a piano technician at California Institute of The Arts in Valencia, a renowned Disney-founded school, under the mentorship of Alan Eder, head piano technician.  Sean also studied and worked with other piano technicians of note—Richard Davenport, Gaylord Mowry, and many others along the way.

Sean brings his passion and dedication to the high craft of maintaining, tuning and prepping pianos for the world-class faculty and students at the School of Music. He regularly consults historical and modern literature on piano technology, and enjoys working at the beautiful and iconic UCLA campus.
