Shannon McGarry’s appointment as the School’s inaugural Assistant Dean began in July 2016. Shannon is a UCLA alumna with over 18 years of service on campus. She began her UCLA career at the Luskin School of Public Affairs and held program management positions at Luskin and the UCLA Graduate School of Education before moving to the Social Science Division of the College of Letters and Science where she has served as a Chief Administrative Officer for both the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment and Cotsen Institute of Archaeology. Shannon is a passionate advocate and serves on various campus leadership committees. In her spare time, she trains for endurance races. Shannon is an endurance athlete having completed 25 marathons, various ultra races, and triathlons, and is an Ironman finisher.
