Klezmer and xylophone. An unlikely marriage. But the Lowell Milken Fund’s very own percussionist, Lorry Black, brings the xylophone from the back to the front of the stage with his fun, original arrangements of standard (and not-so-standard) Klezmer tunes, each infused with his virtuosity, creativity, and humor. Ten years after his senior recital on the Jan Popper stage, join Lorry and his stellar band of friends as he brings together his varying musical backgrounds in this exploration of Klezmer xylophone. Come for the music, stay for the nosh!
This event is made possible by the Lowell Milken Fund for American Jewish Music at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. It is co-sponsored by The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and the Department of Ethnomusicology.
