Overview

Applications for all minors are opened on Monday of Week 1 in Fall and Spring quarter and close promptly at 5pm on Friday of Week 4. In order to prepare for your application, please complete a proposed degree plan that incorporates all required classes for your prospective minor with your current plan of study for your major. If you would like to see what classes are required for the minor, we recommend running a model DARS.

Timeline

Interested applicants should return to this page during Week 1 of Fall or Spring quarter and click on the application of their choosing below. Please note that the applications below are only activated during Week 1 of Fall and Spring, and are closed outside of the application window.

 

How to Double Major

As a current UCLA student, you do not need to reapply to UCLA formally to double major. However, the School of Music does require that all students complete all steps of our supplemental application, which is due each Fall in early December.

Steps to Double Major

Step 1: In order to apply to add a major at the School of Music or to switch to one of our majors, you are required to complete our supplemental application when they go live in October of Fall quarter. Find all of our supplemental application requirements here.

Step 2: After your application is reviewed by faculty in early December, you will be notified if you are invited to audition or interview for the program. Auditions and interviews take place in late January/early February of each year.

Step 3: If you are accepted to the major, you would be required to complete the requirements for the degree within your allotted time at UCLA. Please note that the School rarely approves extensions of time to complete our degrees, and you would need to demonstrate that you can complete all requirements within your remaining time at UCLA.
