On Friday, March 3, 2023, One by One, the debut album of junior composition major Yoni Fogelman, dropped.
“One by One is my biggest project to date,” said Fogelman. “It’s a full album of original chamber music for strings, all performed by top studio musicians, all recorded on a great stage, and all made possible by the endless generosity of my family, friends, and mentors.”
The album begins with a piece for solo cello. Each additional track adds an additional instrument (one-by-one) until it builds to a full string quartet, which performs a four-movement work, Escape to the Lighthouse. The closing piece, “Made by and For the Future,” adds a double bass for a full string quintet.
One by One is the first collaboration between Fogelman and Silent Zoo Studios, a premiere recording studio and scoring stage in Los Angeles. The album features Stephanie Yu and Hwi-Eun Kim on violins, Karoline Menezes on Viola, Mia Barcia-Colombo on cello, and Eric Shetzen on Double-bass.
“This album has been my primary focus for the better part of a year,” said Fogelman. “Now it’s time to share it with the world.”
One by One is available for streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all other streaming platforms.
