Casey Coon, from Milford, Connecticut, serves as the Assistant Director for the “Solid Gold Sound” Marching and Varsity Bands at UCLA, providing administrative, operational, and creative support to the program. A credentialed K-12 music educator, Casey has worked in the Milford (CT) Public School system and served as brass caption head with the East Haven and North Branford public schools. In addition to his instructional experience, Casey has served as festival administrator for the Boston-based Fantastic Festivals organization and has helped to produce numerous large-scale music events, including High School Band Day programs with more than 600 high school participants.
Casey earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, Bachelor of Arts in Music, and Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Connecticut, where he was an active musician and leader within the athletic bands program and an active member of the Gamma Kappa Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, National Honorary Band Sorority. In his graduate student role with the band program, Casey also directed the UConn Marching Band, Pep Band, and university Concert Band, and assisted with student leadership development.
