Hello! We are the SunnySide Brass, a Los Angeles-based brass quintet founded in 2025. The five of us— Neha Kudva (tuba), Raphael Angelo Yap (trombone), Michelle Yang (horn), Macrae Eckelberry (trumpet), and Sean Zender (trumpet)— met as friends throughout our time at UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music, and decided to group up with the shared mission of having fun making music and simply enjoying the process of working together to bring some shine into each other’s day. We connect and bond over laughter and nostalgia for Broadway musical hits-turned-brass quintet arrangements, classic jazz hits, spiritually grounded brass chorales, and modern compositions that have solidified the brass quintet’s place in the classical chamber music canon. It is our goal to bring this same passion for “sunny” times into this “side” of Los Angeles.
