“The UCLA Flute and Guitar duo brings together Ricky Medina and Seamus Byrne.

Ricky Medina is in the second year of his Doctor of Musical Arts program at UCLA. During his time as a public school teacher in Southern California, he was an elementary winds specialist for the Irvine Unified School District. He worked with the special education program to provide general music instruction to students receiving special education services. He mentored students who went on to perform with IUSD and SCSBOA honor ensembles.

Seamus Byrne is in the second year of his Master of Music program at UCLA. Throughout his undergraduate at UCLA, he performed with a myriad of different instruments and voice types, as well as both small and large ensembles such as the UCLA guitar quintet and Mariachi De Uclatlan. Seamus currently performs with the UCLA Guitarist Ensemble under Dr. Mircea Gogoncea. He also performs as a lutenist with the UCLA Early Music Ensemble. “
