Schoenberg Hall View Program

Please join us for an evening celebrating Iranian music. This innovative concert, curated by Shahab Paranj, features both pure Persian classical music and contemporary compositions influenced by that rich tradition. Iranian virtuoso musicians Sohrab Pournazeri and Pejman Hadadi join Shahab Paranj and the Iranshahr String Quartet in premieres of four new compositions by Richard Danielpour, Ian Krouse, Reza Vali, and Shahab Paranj. Michelle Rice will also perform a solo piece composed by Shahab Paranj.

This concert will celebrate the appointment of Shahab Paranj as a new post-doctoral scholar in the music department at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Dr. Paranj’s research focuses on the construction and creative process of rhythm in the Āvazi vocal style in Iranian music. His postdoctoral appointment is being generously supported through Farhang Foundation.

This program is made possible thanks to generous funding from Farhang Foundation.
