Matt Howard, Principal Percussion with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, presents a masterclass on the performance techniques and practices for various percussion parts from the orchestral repertoire. Howard, a native of Los Angeles, studied with Will Hudgins, of the Boston Symphony at the New England Conservatory and with Joseph Pereira and Jim Babor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic at USC. UCLA percussion students will be coached by Howard in preparation for auditions.
This event is made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. We are proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2022 - 23 Dobrow Series.
