A seasonal celebration of music around the world! From Celebration (on Lunar New Year!) to the jazz classic Autumn Leaves.
The UCLA Wind Ensemble presents a program of international musical "Wildflowers," closing with Australian-American composer Percy Aldridge Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy, a cornerstone of the wind band repertoire. The ensemble also plays Chinese-American pipa player and composer Gao Hong's Celebration (on Lunar New Year!), Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo's haunting Adagio para Orquesta de Instrumentos de Viento, and a transcription of Hungarian composer Joseph Kosma's jazz classic Autumn Leaves.
The Santa Monica College Emeritus Concert Band, conducted by UCLA alumnus Yosuke Miyoshi, opens the evening with a selection of band favorites.
