Esther Chae

Esther Chae joined the Troubadours in November 2017. She is a third-year student pursuing a dual degree in Viola Performance and Political Science. She was the co-principal violist of the California Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra in 2016-2017 and was the president of the 2016-2017 CYS Musicians Council. With the California Youth Symphony, Esther had the opportunity to perform in the Mozarteum and tour in Austria and Italy. In the Mountain View High School Chamber Ensemble, Esther was the principal violist from 2013-2017. Through her high school music program, she also served as the Co-Chamber Concert Coordinator for her high school music program, in which she managed bi-annual student-run concerts that would raise funds for charity organizations and her high school music program. Esther was the first-place winner of the 2016 American Fine Arts Festival Concerto Competition and was the second-place winner of the 2016 American Protégé Music Competition for Piano and Strings. She performed her Winner’s Recitals for these competitions in Carnegie Hall. Esther was also the Co-President of her high school’s Mock Trial team. Esther currently studies under Professor Brian Chen at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.
