Musicology – Research Focus: American orchestras, musical hierarchies, and the cultural and political aspects of musical communities
Kate Hamori is a PhD candidate in musicology at the University of California, Los Angeles. She holds master’s degrees in musicology and library science from Indiana University Bloomington. Her recent musicological work has centered around conceptions of voice online, especially in relation to meme culture and short form audiovisual content (i.e. TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and the like.) She currently resides in Rochester, NY, where she serves as music librarian for information literacy, outreach, and machine learning at the Eastman School of Music.
