Spencer Hart is a third-year undergraduate at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. He is pursuing a double major in Music Education and Tuba Performance. Originally from Orange County, he started music at the age of 15 when he learned that his high school marching band needed a tuba player. Since then, he has performed in numerous facets using the opportunities given to him by the School of Music. Spencer is also a Gluck fellow, performing with the Gluck Brass Quintet in the HASOM outreach programs. Furthermore, he is section leader in the UCLA Bruin Marching Band’s tuba section and has performed with the band at numerous UCLA sporting events and gigs across Los Angeles. Aside from his performing experience, Spencer also teaches frequently around LA, including the Santa Monica High School Marching Band plus many other experiences at various elementary schools. Spencer is also involved in music education research and is currently working on a project involving teaching methods for musical scales. Alongside his studies, Spencer is the coordinator for the 2019-2020 Fowler Out Loud Concert Series at the Fowler Museum, a free concert series consisting of UCLA students, faculty, and staff put on every Wednesday at the Fowler Museum at UCLA. Spencer plans to graduate with a K-12 teaching credential and become a full-time music educator in LA while also being a freelance tubist, trombonist, and marching band tech.
