UCLA Spring Festival of World Music Returns to Live Performances
The Spring Festival of World Music is back, and back big. The storied showcase, which dates back to 1960, returns to live performances in Schoenberg Hall May 13-15 and May 20-22. “One of my goals is to give the students exposure to performing publicly,” said Rahul Neuman, the sitar instructor and co-director of the Music of India Ensemble. “We perform, we practice, I teach them and they learn in a classroom setting, but there are limitations to how much you can learn. Those limitations are broadened when you get into public performance.”
