We’re actively recruiting participants for the Sensing Home: The People’s Multisensory Archive for Just Futures project. This research seeks to archive and map multisensory practices that create a sense of home and community. Collectively, these materials articulate a new public narrative. Through self-documentation of lived experiences, participants unsettle the knowledge bases and methodologies typically employed by academics. What do you do in order to feel a sense of home? What forms of spiritual, creative, and physical nourishment do you and your community rely on to feel whole? What practices help you achieve this? Join us to engage with these questions through self-documentation creating a public and private archive, in the form of images, writing, audio, and more. Apply
This research group maps the way music has been shaped by dominant metaphors, such as linear time, text, and proscenium space. These metaphors impact not only the vocabulary we use to describe and analyze music, but also determine musical imaginary, performance practice, and sensory access to music.
Practice-based-research as a methodology is a relatively new endeavor. This research group traces the convergent developments across fields and continents, and builds a public database of practice-based-research and its origins.
