Australian-American mezzo-soprano Tivoli Treloar is an undergraduate Voice Performance major at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music where she is a student of Professor Juliana Gondek. Tivoli is heavily involved in the School of Music and the UCLA campus at large. In February 2020, Tivoli appeared in UCLA Opera’s production of La descente d’Orphée aux enfers under the direction of James Darrah and Grammy-award winning conductor, Stephen Stubbs. The production was staged at the historical William Andrews Clark Memorial Library and was produced in tandem with Los Angeles Opera’s Eurydice Found Festival. In 2021, Tivoli will sing the role of Cherubino in UCLA Opera’s filmed version of Le nozze di Figaro. She also sings with the UCLA Chamber Singers which is conducted by Dr. James Bass. Additionally, she is a member of the Vocal Gluck Ensemble at UCLA, which is an outreach organization that serves the Los Angeles community by bringing free, high-quality musical entertainment to underserved audiences.

As a fluent French speaker, Tivoli is passionate about studying foreign languages, including Italian and German. In the summer of 2019, she attended the Bel Canto Institute, a summer program for young artists located in Florence, Italy, where she studied the Italian language as well as bel canto repertoire with Maestro Leonardo De Lisi and Maestro Stephen Crawford.

Tivoli is a skilled dancer and choreographer with many years of dance training at the Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy where she was a member of the professional division company. She has danced roles including the Arabian Princess and Rosebud in Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, as well as Firebird in Stravinsky’s The Firebird. Additionally, Tivoli attended the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive in New York City where she studied with Russian ballet instructors from the academy in Moscow. She also trained with members of the Radio City Rockettes in New York City where she learned their precision dance technique and performed the iconic Toy Soldiers Dance. Furthermore, Tivoli attended the Joffrey Ballet School Musical Theatre summer intensive in London where she was cast as Glinda in a semi-staged production of Wicked. She has worked as a dance instructor and choreographer at various studios in Orange County, CA, and has worked as an assistant director at her local community theatre. At UCLA, Tivoli is a dancer and choreographer for ICARUS Dance Contemporary Company. ICARUS performs at school-wide events such as Men’s Varsity Basketball Halftime Shows and Spring Sing.

Tivoli is an instrumentalist and played clarinet in a jazz big band throughout high school. She also sang vocals and played clarinet in a jazz combo. Currently, she plays piano for Saddleback Church Lake Forest during weekend services.

Tivoli enjoys working as a Troubadour Student Ambassador and she is grateful for the opportunity to serve the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.
