Weekly lessons focus on establishing efficient fundamentals and musicality through the study of etudes, solos, excerpts, improvisation, and exercises. Learning from each other is encouraged, and students play for each other in our weekly Studio Class. Each year, the group gives a Studio Recital and holds a Mock Orchestral Audition with prominent guest judges. Horn students have opportunities to perform with all major ensembles, woodwind/brass chamber groups, UCLA Brass Ensemble, Bruin Horn Club, and take part in morning horn warm-up classes, affectionately called “Horn-up”.
