Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Henry Threadgill leads a workshop for student composers aimed at helping them solve composition problems with a holistic approach that addresses each student’s needs individually. Threadgill, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2016 for his album In for a Penny, In for a Pound, has been called “perhaps the most important jazz composer of his generation” by The New York Times. As a composer, he combines African, African American, and other world traditions in what can truly be considered “world music.” He is also a saxophonist and flutist who has fronted various eclectic ensembles over the years. Q&A follows.
