Tomeka Reid Residency: Musical Presentation with Q&A

Cellist, composer, and educator Tomeka Reid will be featured in a musical presentation. Tune in to this page on Thursday, May 27, at 7:00pm for the premiere presentation. After the premiere, viewers are welcome to "Meet the Artist" in a live Zoom session moderated by Distinguished Professor James Newton. Details for joining the Zoom session are provided on this page.

Described as a “New Jazz Power Source” by the New York Times, cellist and composer Tomeka Reid has emerged as one of the most original, versatile, and curious musicians in Chicago’s bustling jazz and improvised music community over the last decade. Her distinctive melodic sensibility, always rooted in a strong sense of groove, has been featured in many distinguished ensembles over the years.

This event is part of the Tomeka Reid Residency, initiated by Distinguished Professor James Newton. It is sponsored by The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music Global Jazz Studies IDP, with support from the Dean of the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.
