Join the UCLA Philharmonia, conducted by doctoral candidate Jakub Rompczyk, for an enchanting evening of classical music. Experience the beautiful Intermezzo “The Walk to the Paradise Garden” from Frederick Delius's opera “A Village Romeo and Juliet” and Tchaikovsky's epic fantasy overture "Romeo and Juliet," both works inspired by literature. The concert will also feature the exceptional talents of saxophonist Mathew Harget, winner of the 2023 UCLA Atwater Kent Concerto Competition, who will perform John Adams’s energetic Saxophone Concerto (2013).
This performance is made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. We are proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2022-2023 Dobrow Series.
