Incoming Students

It is my pleasure to welcome you to The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Here, you’ll grow in a culture of curiosity and exploration—where you might improvise in a jazz combo as a classical cellist, learn Ghanaian traditions through active participation, or perform on a Stradivarius violin or with the Kyai Mendung. Whatever your major, you’ll engage both theory and practice in ways that deepen your knowledge and artistry. I’ll look forward to meeting you in the Fall, at one of our concerts, at one of my Dean’s Drop-Ins, and just in the halls.
