School of Music students win Library Prize for Undergraduate Research

Three School of Music students were honored with UCLA Library prizes in undergraduate research: Pavan Radhakrishnan (Musicology, ’26), Eden Ulrigg (Ethnomusicology, ’27) and Will Bollini (Music Industry minor, ’26).

Each year, UCLA celebrates Undergraduate Research Week – commemorating the innovative work of students across campus who are performing research and creative inquiry in all disciplines. The UCLA Library recognizes and honors excellence in undergraduate research, and the Library Prize consists of awards in eight academic categories with a cash award.

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music students honored both won first prizes in their categories:

Pavan Radhakrishnan (Musicology ’26), first place winner of best project using resources from an international collection with the project: “Nicolae Sulac’s Orchestra Lăutarii: National Turn in Soviet Moldovan Folk Music.”

Eden Ulrigg (Ethnomusicology, ’27), first place winner of best project on music after 1900 with the project: “From the Steppe to the Stage: The Westernization and Cultural Restructuring of the Mongolian Horse-head Fiddle

Will Bollini (Human Biology and Society Major, Music Industry minor, Film, Television, and Digital Media minor ’26), first place winner of best project using resources from the Library of Special Collections category with the project: “DIY 2 Survive.”
