Taiwan Academy

As part of their Winter residency at UCLA, Formosa Quartet is partnering with Taiwan Academy Los Angeles to present music and art from Taiwan. Promoting Taiwan's diverse culture and bringing Formosan inspired music to its audiences have been Formosa Quartet's mission since it was founded 16 years ago. Their soon-to-be-released album "From Hungary to Taiwan" (available for pre-ordering) features three of Formosa Quartet's commissioned works, juxtaposing folk-influenced Hungarian classical and rural masterpieces to Formosan inspired counterpart. The concert will be followed by a light reception.

Women's Voices, Women's Souls
A celebration of Jewish women’s voices, the centerpiece of this concert are excerpts from Women of Valor, an award-winning cantata by composer Andrea Clearfield, performed by members of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony under the direction of Dr. Noreen Green and featuring Grammy award-winning soprano Hila Plitmann and mezzo-soprano Iris Malkin. Inspired by a midrash, Women of Valor highlights the stories of women of the Bible through the contemporary lens of several women writers.
