UCLA Gluck Trombone Quartet Performance

classical, jazz
Los Angeles Public Library – Vernon Branch

Join us for a free performance of the UCLA Gluck Trombone Quartet at the Los Angeles Public Library Vernon Branch!

The UCLA Gluck Trombone Quartet consists of students in the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music studying under the direction of James Miller, the acting principal trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The members of the quartet have a passion for bringing music to their community and are excited to share a unique set of musical styles, played solely on trombones, with audiences across Los Angeles. Their repertoire represents a wonderfully eclectic selection of songs, ranging from the classical canon to popular music and jazz.

Since 1996, the UCLA Gluck Fellows Music Outreach Program has been the beneficiary of a generous grant from the Max H. Gluck Foundation, which enables our finest UCLA music students to offer educational performances at over 150 schools, libraries, senior centers, and other nontraditional venues throughout Los Angeles County.

Each academic year, the school hand selects top-tier UCLA student performers to participate in the Gluck Fellows Music Outreach Program. Known as Gluck Fellows, these students perform in chamber ensembles or as solo artists, offering free educational performances across an immense diversity of musical styles.

Test Kitchen: Decolonize Music Theory through Multi-Sensory Writing with Nina Eidsheim and Juliette Bellocq
What if we listened to music with our tongue, feet, or skin? In this interactive event, we will experiment with multi-sensory experience of music. Engaging with a writing model from PEER Lab graphic designer Julliet Bellocq and founder Nina Eidsheim can help us relate to our senses more fully, and deepen our relationship with music and ourselves.
