CANCELED – UCLA Piano Area Marathon: Virtuosity of the Soul— Rachmaninov’s Ètudes-Tableaux

classical
Ensemble Room: Ostin Music Center

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED

Students of Professors Inna Faliks and David Kaplan present an evening devoted to a towering giant of piano who imbued modernism with romanticism, and virtuosity with soul-- former Los Angeles resident Sergei Rachmaninov. The young artists of UCLA's piano area will perform Ètudes-Tableaux and other short works.

This year, as part of the Piano Area Marathon and immediately following the performances, top piano students in the piano department will be presented with the Benno Rubinyi Award. This distinguished award is in honor and memory of pianist and UCLA alumnus Benno Rubinyi, and made possible through the generosity of the late Jeannette Rubinyi and the Rubinyi family. The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music is proud to celebrate the legacy of Benno’s musicianship and the support of the Rubinyi family who has sponsored the Benno Rubinyi Piano Student Competition for 21 years.
