Royce Hall

The UCLA Wind Ensemble returns to Royce Hall with a celebration of American music, opening with Halcyon Hearts, a 2021 piece by young American composer Katahj Copley followed by Los Angeles composer Frank Ticheli’s haunting Rest. In honor of Steven Spielberg’s recent Oscar-winning film adaptation, the ensemble plays Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. And to mark the 90th birthday of UCLA alumnus John Williams, the program closes with the iconic music from the movie, Star Wars.

This event is made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. We are proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2022 - 23 Dobrow Series.
