The UCLA Tuba and Euphonium Studio welcomes rising star Dr. Jasmine Pigott to our school. Dr. Pigott is setting one of the best examples of how to build a career as a musician and educator on the tuba - she has held several college teaching positions, recorded a solo album, served on nonprofit boards, and presented at several conferences.

About Dr. Pigott:

Dr. Jasmine “Jazzie” Pigott is a tuba player, composer, singer, spoken word artist, and writer based in Baltimore, MD. Believing in the power of representation, she is on a mission to empower the next generation of musicians of color. She has developed an international presence, touring as a soloist across the U.S., Costa Rica, and Colombia. She has placed in numerous solo competitions, including first place in Peabody’s Yale Gordon Competition and bronze in the Leonard Falcone Tuba Student Competition. In July 2022, she released her first EP, Revolution, celebrating Black composers, musicians, and styles. Jasmine is a co-founder of the Chromatic Brass Collective, a group devoted to women of color brass musicians. Outside of music, she ran the podcast Harmony and Healing, centered on health and wellness for musicians, from July 2021 to September 2022. She holds degrees from Ithaca College (B.M.), Michigan State University (M.M.), and the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins (D.M.A).

This event is made possible by the David and Irmgard Dobrow Fund. Classical music was a passion of the Dobrows, who established a generous endowment at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to make programs like this possible. We are proud to celebrate this program as part of the 2025-26 Dobrow Series.

Like most of UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s programs, this event is FREE!  Early arrival is recommended. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. No RSVP required.
