Hello! We are the Odd Keys— an adventurous trio uniting the voices of graduate students Davis Lerner (Bassoon), Michelle Yang (French Horn) and Nichagarn Chiracharasporn (Composer/Pianist). While there is certainly an aspect of wonder attached to our unique instrumentation, even more curious are the personal and musical backgrounds that shape our collaboration. Our trio was founded on a fascination for the vast color and nuance that can emerge amongst ourselves, as well as an excitement for improvisation backed by Classical, Baroque, Persian, and Thai music traditions. Performing alongside one another inspires us to stretch and transfigure our individual identities into a unified, pluralist whole that reimagines the conventions of our shared classical training. We are excited to bring this spirit into our Los Angeles community, to have our voice be similarly molded by the varied communities we are so lucky to share space with.
