MUSE’s Fifth Annual Conference, “Music in Dialogue”

Green Room (1230 Schoenberg Music Building)

MUSE, An Undergraduate Music Studies Journal at UCLA, invites you to its fifth annual conference, “Music in Dialogue.”

In celebration of our fifth volume, MUSE is hosting a two-day conference that highlights the research and creative works of undergraduates, terminal master’s students, and independent scholars from UCLA and institutions all over the country. In addition to an eclectic set of student panels, the conference will also include roundtable workshops where our own faculty and staff members will share their experiences within and beyond the discipline. Our presenters’ abstracts will be published in a special issue of conference proceedings (Vol. 5, No. 1) this Spring.

Our keynote speaker this year is Corey Harris, an American blues musician and recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship.

This event is free and open to the public.

---
MUSE is the first undergraduate journal publishing student work in music scholarship at UCLA. A student-run organization, MUSE aims to allow undergraduate students an outlet to share their academic work with a broader public. Our goal is to publish scholarship over a wide range of music-related subjects, including but not limited to disciplines such as historical musicology, ethnomusicology, music analysis, popular music, sound studies, pedagogy, performance studies, critical theory, aesthetics, gender and sexuality, and cultural studies.

Like most of The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music’s programs, this event is FREE! Register in advance for this event via the link below. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the event.  Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis. Early arrival is recommended. Registrants receive priority up until 15 minutes before the event, and after that time any open seats will be released to patrons on our waitlist.
