Dr. Theresa Dimond, Principal Percussion of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, has been a member since its inception, appearing on the company’s Grammy winning recordings, Kurt Weill’s The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, and John Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versaille. Long-time Principal Timpanist and Percussionist of the Los Angeles Master Chorale Sinfonia, Dr. Dimond has performed, recorded, and toured under every one of its music directors, including Roger Wagner, John Curry, Paul Salamunovich, and Grant Gershon.  As a freelance musician in Los Angeles, Dr. Dimond has worked with every orchestral ensemble in the city, including notably the LA Philharmonic and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.  She is currently Principal Percussion of the Pasadena Symphony and Pops and Principal Timpanist of Muse/ique and the California Philharmonic.  Beyond live music in LA, Dr. Dimond has performed on a number of film scores, and as an expert on cimbalom, a Hungarian hammered dulcimer.

Dr. Dimond teaches at UCLA, Pomona College, Whittier College and Cerritos College.  She has previously taught at both her alma mater, USC and UC, Irvine.  In 1998, she founded TouchDown Publications, a music publishing company which edits and publishes opera percussion performance parts.
