UCLA Philharmonia makes its third appearance headlining the Hear Now Music Festival, Los Angeles’ annual festival of new music by Los Angeles-area composers.
Matt Howard, Principal Percussion with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, presents a masterclass about the performance techniques and practices for various percussion parts from the orchestral repertoire. Howard, a native Angelino, studied with Will Hudgins of the Boston Symphony at the New England Conservatory and with Joseph Pereira and Jim Babor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic at USC. UCLA percussion students will be coached by Howard in preparation for auditions.
