BA Global Jazz Studies, Drums
Liam Wallace is a drummer, composer, and arranger currently studying drum set with Professor Clayton Cameron. Within the Global Jazz Studies department, Liam has performed with the Jazz Orchestra, the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, the Contemporary Jazz Ensemble, and the Charles Mingus Ensemble. Outside of the music school, he has performed at a variety of UCLA events on campus. He especially enjoys working with the theater, film, and television students playing drums for their musical theater shows. Between high school and college, he has so far played on over a dozen musicals to date. An avid composer and arranger, Liam enjoys creating both instrumental and vocal-accompaniment arrangements. He has written in a variety of styles, from sweeping classical strings to energetic Latin horn lines. In the summer of 2019, Liam traveled with the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra on a tour of Europe, where he had one of his first orchestral compositions performed in Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. Currently a member of the UCLA Gluck Jazz Ensemble, he is furthering his study of composition with renowned musician and composer Terence Blanchard.
