Mei-Chen Chen is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Ethnomusicology at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music and was a Fulbright Graduate Study grantee between 2017 and 2019. Her research interests focus on historical music recordings from Taiwan and on cultural policies and local practices related to intangible cultural heritage that are particularly in relation to traditional performing arts. She has extensive experience working with government agencies and local communities in cultural transmission, preservation, exhibition and research projects in Taiwan. She is also a professional guzheng (Chinese zither) performer.
