The Eastern Europe collection includes 40 pieces from this area, some of which are in active use. Instruments such as the gusla, a bowed lute from Serbia, are in good condition and kept on display in our instrument rooms. The gaida, a Bulgarian goatskin bagpipe, is used by the Music and Dance of the Balkans Ensemble.
