Camarades Spring Quarter Recital

Come hear our industrious and talented students in a mature state of chamber repertoire preparation, in the first of two final performances of the year-long Camarades’ season. This evening’s performance will include works by Ravel, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Grieg, Debussy and Kodály.

Continuing Evolution: Yiddish Folksong Today

Continuing Evolution: Yiddish Folksong Today is a music festival celebrating Yiddish folksong. It features performances of contemporary classical works reimagining Yiddish folksongs; classic compositions which engage with Yiddish folksongs; little-known settings of Yiddish folksongs from YIVO’s archival collections, and more.

Orchestral Excerpts for Percussion

Matt Howard, Principal Percussion with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, presents a masterclass about the performance techniques and practices for various percussion parts from the orchestral repertoire. Howard, a native Angelino, studied with Will Hudgins of the Boston Symphony at the New England Conservatory and with Joseph Pereira and Jim Babor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic at USC. UCLA percussion students will be coached by Howard in preparation for auditions.
