Opera UCLA New Works Reading – Juana

Opera UCLA presents two new works readings of the new opera “Juana,” based on the novel “Sor Juana’s Second Dream,” by UCLA Professor Alicia Gaspar de Alba, which tells the story of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, a 17th-century feminist genius whose life was marked by repeated conflict with men of the Inquisition.

Music of China Concert

The UCLA Chinese Music Ensemble, directed by Chi Li, performs its annual Fall concert featuring traditional and contemporary music, including Chinese opera aria, zheng unison, qin unison, folk dance, and silk-and-bamboo music.
