Inna Faliks Performs Ljova Premiere

UCLA’s own world-renowned concert pianist Inna Faliks performs a WORLD PREMIERE of a new work by Ljova, as well as performing works by UCLA lecturers Peter Golub and Tamir Hendelman, and works by George Gershwin, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and Arnold Schoenberg.

Vivaldi Extravaganza

Dedicating this Valentine’s Day concert to the families of our Freshmen, and to all Vivaldi fans on campus, the String Department presents its annual Vivaldi Extravaganza, performing the celebrated Seasons, with surprise additions!

Unsettling Repertoires: Armenian POWs in Musicology’s Colonial Past

During WWI, The Royal Prussian Phonographic Commission recorded the voices of detainees from various backgrounds captive in Prussian camps. Some of these prisoners of war were Armenian soldiers fighting in the Russian army. By examining the sound recordings and printed documents kept in the archives, Melissa Bilal will critically discuss the legacy of the Armenian repertoire produced in internment camps.

Titans of Jewish Music

The culminating performance of the UCLA American Jewish Music Festival highlights works by some of Los Angeles’ most famous and influential Jewish composers, including Schoenberg, Korngold and Zeisl. It ends with Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 1.

MUSE Launch Party

In celebration of the first edition of the new musicology undergraduate research journal MUSE, Active Listening Club members Alana Chester and Matthew Gilbert host the MUSE launch party, including an introduction to the journal, followed by a Q&A with the authors and a reception.
