Chyna Ellis - The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music
Chyna Ellis
Assistant to the Chair - Music Industry Program

Chyna Ellis is the chair’s assistant for the music industry program at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. Her role is crucial to the program’s success, as she coordinates administrative tasks, supports the chair with various initiatives and acts as a liaison between faculty and the department.

Chyna holds a degree in the history of art and visual culture with a minor in electronic music from UC Santa Cruz. During her time at UC Santa Cruz, she worked with the educational opportunities program as a student and later joined full time as an administrative specialist.

Outside of her professional role, Chyna has a deep passion for music. She occasionally plays congas for a salsa band in Los Angeles and also writes and produces instrumental music. Her work blends hip-hop, R&B, downtempo, and ambient genres, creating a musical sanctuary that provides listeners with moments of clarity and peace and fosters a deeper connection with themselves and the present moment.
